Isn’t it encouraging to talk with someone who loves a book which has meaningfully impacted you as well?
The conversation just tends to deepen faster, and you walk away from the encounter feeling seen and connected. How much more is that true when the interaction involves reflection on relationships with eternal significance?
Dr. Larry Crabb had a gift for building authentic spiritual community, not only through his face-to-face conversations, but through his writing as well. That’s why in each quarter of 2023, Larger Story’s new “Reading & Relating” Book Club will provide the opportunity for a three-month-long deep dive into one of Larry’s books, which will include:
- Questions for further reflection will be provided for each reading section.
- During a monthly zoom meeting, Richard Cook, one of our Larger Story spiritual directors, will guide discussion of how group members have been affected by what was read.
- After the group meeting, facilitators will lead participant triads for more personal sharing.

More than just accumulating information and exchanging ideas, Reading & Relating provides the opportunity to have our relationships shaped by God’s Word. In January through March, our first book will be The Pressure’s Off, which is not only a good introduction to spiritual formation, but also focuses on truths about which we all need frequent reminders. So if you’re looking for a chance to connect with thoughtful people who are serious about becoming like Jesus in the ways that they interact with God, themselves, and others, sign up today for the Reading & Relating Book Club!

About Pressure’s Off
Is the pressure getting to you? Do you try to make everything work, only to find that your best efforts are largely ineffective?
Christians have unknowingly embraced two errors: that following the rules guarantees a good life, and that God is important because He dispenses blessings. When God’s blessings seem to taper off and when life doesn’t work out, people take it upon themselves to make things work. And that creates pressure that we are all too familiar with.
In The Pressure’s Off, best-selling author and counselor Larry Crabb introduces you to the New Way of living. God does not guarantee ease or convenience—or even a good outcome as the result of your obedience. But he does promise himself, no matter what the circumstances of your life.
When you seek God and nothing else, the pressure truly is off you.
