Story

In 2000, I was gifted tickets to the Hawaii Island Ministries (HIM) Conference, My friend was not able to attend, but offered them to me. I had been out of touch with God and Christian circles for a long time, but I felt God tugging at my heart. It was suggested I attend the break out sessions that LARRY CRABB was to be speaking at. I didn't know nor had I read any books by him. Needless to say, I attended ALL of the sessions and bought cassette tapes for myself and (which I still have!!) and gave them to the woman who gave me the tickets. I never met him or talked with him after the sessions, but I want you to know that the Lord used him to CHANGE THE TRAJECTORY OF MY LIFE!!! He awakened in me a desire (as he put it) to "turn our chairs one to another and become Jesus to each other." He spoke confessionally and authentically. He spoke about "community" and my heart was tenderized!! I longed for that….not even knowing what that would look like. I had attended many churches before and never really found deep, real, community. I hadn't found it in the "American Church."

Since then, I have been an advocate of his–his books, etc., and I have found a community of believers that are willing to face the truth about themselves coupled with grace! "Turning our chairs to one another" is a staple in our church. Thank you, Lord!!

I am so sorry for your loss and yet I've thought about how he must be rejoicing in the Presence of God now…….fully redeemed…..with no pain…..looking into the glorious Face of Jesus forever!! You must have rejoiced with him as you all helped to usher him into God's Presence!! What a privilege!!
