For Rachel – Thanks for Your Sacrifice
Story
Dear Rachel,
Thank you for all the years that you shared Larry with so many of us. It was your gift and ministry to the many that Larry touched. I was one of the SSD students at Glen Eyrie back in 2005. During these days, you and I had a couple of conversations with one having a big impact on me. I was wresting with whether to take a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Italy. You got "in my face" somewhat literally and talked about Bill's death and how it interrupted his delayed plans. Well, I listened and it was what the Lord used to push me into spending the money and making what at the time was a the trip of a lifetime. Here is a bit of an epilogue: This same advice was used as Cathy and I contemplated makes a 40th anniversary trip to New Zealand. We did and returned just prior to the world locking down with the COVID crisis.
During this same SSD school Larry and I had breakfast in the Great Hall. The Lord used this breakfast to restore my sense of calling and worth in God's kingdom. I had experienced "shattered dreams" when what we thought was a lifelong calling to Asia ended abruptly sending us back to the States disillusioned, discouraged and doubtful of our ministry. Now years later we are serving in Europe. By the way, Larry and I exchanged emails just a few months ago where I wanted him to know how the Lord used him in my life over the years since 2005.
I was grateful to watch the life feed yesterday here from Southampton, England. Praying for grace for you and the family as you walk through these difficult weeks and months ahead.
Bill
