About the book: “Every attempt to help people must first begin with an effort to understand people,” says Dr. Larry Crabb. “And the only fully reliable source of information on that topic is the Bible.” In this Gold Medallion Award-winning classic, Dr. Crabb affirms the power of the Scriptures to address the intricacies and deep needs of the human heart. Exploring the inseparable link between spiritual and psychological realities, Understanding People offers a vital lens on how we’re put together—who we really are and what makes us tick in our relationships with other people, with God, and with ourselves. In three parts, this book first points us to the Bible as our source of insight into perplexing heart issues. Then it helps us come to grips with our brokenness as God’s image-bearers, and it shows how we can reclaim our ability to reflect him in our growth toward maturity and healed relationships.
In God of My Father, Dr. Larry Crabb shared with us his personal spiritual mentor, a man strong in faith and steady in his walk. That man was his own father, Lawrence Crabb, Sr.
This book is about mentoring: how an older person influences a younger person for good. Even more, this is an intensely personal story of one man’s walk with God as he wrestled with life, and a moving tribute to the influence of a godly mentor and faithful father, displaying God’s abiding faithfulness to generation after generation of his children.

We all know how discouraging it can be to share our story with someone who’s not really listening. Being engaged in a conversation, just like friendship, is about so much more than simply talking. How can we use words to connect with each other in ways that can do deep and lasting good? How do we have conversations that matter?
In these pages Rachael Crabb and two of her friends in ministry, Sonya Reeder & Diana Calvin, take up this question in a creative and informative way, providing model dialogues with one another exploring the deep issues of their lives. You will be intrigued and informed by learning from their journeys, but most importantly you will learn how you can start similar conversations with your friends. Reflection and discussion questions provide a guide for you to think about how the themes of these chapters relate to the themes of your own life journey. This makes an ideal book for small groups of women as well as for triads or pairs to read and discuss together. Along the way you will learn new listening skills as well as learning about yourself and your friends. Come along and listen in.

How to Love When You Don’t Feel Like Loving
Everywhere we look, we see evidence that love is in short supply. Terrorists and political corruption, school shootings and troubled marriages, impatient online sniping and character assassination–all point to the fact that we do not know how to love one another as Jesus commanded and modeled. We put our own interests and happiness first, despite the fact that the greatest happiness comes through sacrificial love.
In this book, Dr. Larry Crabb shows readers how to understand the deep and perfect love we are shown by our Creator and Redeemer, and how to pour that love into other people. This love is about more than being nice and serving others. It’s about relating to others in such a way that they feel heard, seen, and valued. This love sacrifices and suffers and keeps loving, even when doing so is costly. This kind of love, says Crabb, is the kind worth fighting for in all of our relationships, and A Different Kind of Happiness shows how to make it a reality.

Are you tempted beyond your power to resist?
There is no question that addictions soil our souls, eventually taking control of our lives. The energy and motivation needed to serve the cause of Christ gets badly short-changed. That’s the bad news.
Here’s the good news. Biblical Christianity provides a way to rise up from this quicksand: Waiting! Learning to eagerly wait for the Lord’s return is essential to overcoming the root demand beneath all addictions. But the choice to wait is easy to state but hard to make because arranging for a temporary and counterfeit experience quiets the demand of our tired and thirsty souls.
While there is no path to walk that eliminates the struggle to resist temptation we can be moving into greater freedom from it every day. As we learn to wait eagerly for heaven when all our longings will be fully and forever satisfied, we will be inclined to live for one central reason: to make this life work as we want it to. Two things will then happen:
One, we will find ourselves driven by self-centeredness, by an addictive concern for our own felt well-being;
Two, whatever either numbs our discontent with things as they are or provides a convincing sense of satisfaction for our deeply felt longings will lead us toward addictions of any available variety, all fueled by a core addiction to self. Waiting for heaven to provide everything our souls yearn for, demanding nothing now, frees us to love well now, to delight God and to be there for others, requiring nothing in return.
The result? Joy! The satisfaction of living and loving like Jesus.

Forever change the way you look at the Bible . . . and your own life
Have you ever read the Bible only to come away confused? Ever wondered if God actually had you in mind when He began telling His story?
Though life may not be going according to your plan, God has another one, far better than you can imagine. From Genesis to Revelation, experience His invitation to get you dancing with joy.
In 66 Love Letters Larry Crabb offers a fresh, relational look at Scripture:
“When you finish reading my first love letter to you, I want you to realize that I never underestimated how thoroughly you’d mess up your life or how painfully you would struggle and suffer, and I don’t want you to underestimate your failures or struggles either. They’re all part of the story I’m telling. “But neither have I underestimated my determination or ability to enter both the mess you’ve made and the pain you feel, then turn everything around. I can, and I will, make everything good again. Never underestimate me.”
Larry’s intimate conversation with God asks deeply honest questions such as:
Listen to the story of God unfold through these chapters, and you’ll fi nd not only His redeeming love but His plan and provision designed especially for you.

According to Drs. Larry Crabb and Dan Allender, encouragement is more than a compliment or a pat on the back. It’s a skill that can be mastered by anyone. Crabb and Allender ask: “What must we know in order to fulfill the biblical exhortation to ‘encourage one another?'” Encouragement provides the answer.
Part one deals with understanding encouragement, and part two explores the process of encouragement, including such practical how-tos as developing a careful selection of encouraging words; cultivating active listening skills; using biblical fellowship to move beyond superficial smiles and shallow greetings; and recognizing subtle opportunities for encouragement.
Without the encouragement of a caring community, biblical truth taught in church tends to just thicken people’s defense layers. But authenticity, freedom, and greater love for God and others are the fruit of encouragement, and evidence of the tremendous power God invests in individuals who practice it.
